美国印第安现代艺术展
American Icons Through Indigenous Eyes
An exhibition of more than 50 works by Native American artists goes on view at the D.C. Arts Center this month. Curated by Native American poet and activist Suzan Shown Harjo, the show is a rare chance to see modern works by Native Americans that don't necessarily reflect craft traditions, anthropology or history, but instead a viewpoint and a vision for art.
In his photograph "Indin Car," Shan Goshorn, an Eastern Band Cherokee, imagines how else the cliche "Indian car" (meaning a beat-up vehicle) might look. Cherokee warriors are seated inside.
