据悉，Windows Threshold将进一步远离Windows 8采用的Modern UI，即所谓瓷砖界面，在某些Windows Threshold版本当中，Modern UI默认禁用，用户需要手动开启Modern UI。但是在平板电脑上，Windows Threshold的Modern UI默认开启，在桌面电脑上Windows Threshold的Modern UI默认关闭，显示微软去Modern UI化设计思想。
Windows Threshold允许应用程序以窗口模式在桌面上运行，并带有全新设计的开始菜单，习惯鼠标键盘的用户也不再会被Modern UI困扰。当然微软也重新设计了Windows Threshold的Modern UI，只是将其隐藏了起来。因此，当用户第一眼看到Windows Threshold，就很容易分辨出来它不是Windows 8.1。
尽管Windows Threshold还处于早期开发阶段，但是显然微软已经从善如流，去掉了大家都不喜欢的Modern UI。
