Ma-Pang, Left, a 22-year-old Karen hill tribe woman, cleans the ring around the neck of her mother Ma-Nang at a village near Mae Hong Son province, north of Bangkok（曼谷）. These rings distort（歪曲）the growth of their collarbones（锁骨）and make them look as if they have long necks - which they don't. This row of brass（铜的）rings do not actually stretch their necks but in fact squash（压制）the vertebra（脊椎骨）and collar bones（锁骨）. A woman generally has about twenty or more rings around her neck. This neck ring adornment（装饰）is started when the girls are 5 or 6 years old.
